Message: I am the sole in-house firmware developer for a small medical device company recently acquired by a large pharmaceutical (no other electronic devices) with incentives for an aggressive schedule. Our product needs to stand up to the scrutiny given to publicly traded companies with a core team the size of a start-up. The parent company has large unspecified resources available, and the possibility of contracting to meet man-power needs are real. We have a fair amount of legacy code (a lot of which is mine), as well as a large host of new features we need to implement. Our current testing has been a mixture of a lot of ad-hoc testing ("dogfooding") by people at the company and high level validation & verification for regulatory purposes. Both these things will continue to happen, but I want our quality assurance capabilities to reach something a full TDD/agile company could do without putting our schedule at risk. Details may be able to be provided once a Non-Disclosure Agreement is in place. Since you literally wrote the book on TDD for Embeded C, I wanted to see what we could do to get to the desired level.
