Course code: VOL-1
  • Years with company: 10
  • Years programming: 2
  • Primary programming language: C/C++
  • Other programming languages: CAPL, C#
  • Unit test harnesses: -
  • Something else: I have mostly a background as verification and fault tracing engineer. Not so much SW development.
  • Test practice now: Manual debugging, trial and error for the test environment. Test cases in test suites to test end user functionality in our products we build and deliver.
  • Target system: Instrument cluster for commercial vehicles. Running Autosar "logica components" and HMI.
  • Dev tools: Mostly Visual Studio.
  • Build time: 1-2 hours
  • Coding standard: -
  • Function too long: -
  • Code reviews: -
  • Code time: 20
  • Test time: 40
  • Debug time: 40
  • Favorite thing about dev: The logical thinking and structure. Getting a chance to create something that will be used by others.
  • Least favorite thing about dev: Long feedback loops. Problems debugging.
  • Tdd knowledge: A bit. Not much practice. Test case writing, coding, testing, refactoring. Have watched Cleancoders episodes on TDD. Very interesting but hard to practise with the tools I have got.
  • Why are you attending: My manager asked me if I was interested and he said he wanted me to go. As said, I mainly work with verification but am interested in the sw dev process and how we can improve the quality from an early stage. How can I contribute to that?
