Course code: SP-005
  • Years with company: 2
  • Years programming: 6+
  • Primary programming language: C
  • Other programming languages: C++ Python Java
  • Unit test harnesses: Unity Twister (Zephyr RTOS)
  • Something else: I am excited for the course.
  • Test practice now: Unit tests + integration test with both simulators and on hardware, HIL. On hardware pre-release, QA (automated and manual) test.
  • Target system: Embedded IoT controller, main product controls a hot water heater (geyser).
  • Dev tools: VSCode Docker
  • Build time: 31-60 seconds
  • Coding standard: practice != ideal. Context matters too. Our ideals: Misra C + Clean Code + Doxygen fn comments
  • Function too long: Rule of thumb/experience. If the full function can't fit on your screen it's probably too long.
  • Code reviews: We work using trunk based development.
  • Code time: 60%
  • Test time: 30%
  • Debug time: 10%
  • Favorite thing about dev: Solving complex problems. Complex behaviours through logical simplicity.
  • Least favorite thing about dev: Layers of abstraction abstract.
  • Tdd knowledge: An intention is increased feedback loop catching&fixing. Helps focus defining requirements first
  • Why are you attending: I want to ensure I am using the practice (TDD) as effectively as I can.
