Course code: NIELSEN-2
  • Years with company: 9
  • Years programming: 10
  • Primary programming language: C++
  • Other programming languages: C#, VB.NET
  • Unit test harnesses: none
  • Something else: I mostly work on Windows desktop app and services. Lately I also developed some Web Services using WCF.
  • Test practice now: Manually doing unit tests after implementing changes/new features.
  • Target system: not yet defined
  • Dev tools: Visual Studio, Borland Turbo C++ builder, Embarcadero RAD
  • Build time: 31-60 seconds
  • Coding standard: Try to stick as much as possible to the coding standard used in legacy code I work on.
  • Function too long: When it does too many things consequently.
  • Code reviews: Usually do code review within our development team (3-4 developers)
  • Code time: 40 %
  • Test time: 30 %
  • Debug time: 30 %
  • Favorite thing about dev: You can do the same thing in many different ways. I like optimizing stuff.
  • Least favorite thing about dev: In large projects I don't like if there are too many external libraries involved over which you have almost no control. Bugs.
  • Tdd knowledge: I know the basics of TDD - attended a short presentation on TDD within our group some time ago where I learned "write test functions first and then the real code"
  • Why are you attending: Want to get some deeper knowledge and learn how to use it in my existing code.
